Episode Five: A Break in the Silence

It's been a while since I've done one of these, so I may unfortunately be a bit rusty when it comes to posting. For now, I would like to apologize for my lack of diligence in my promised task to bring a weekly update for the past month. Life, as we all know, has a way of going against whatever schedules we set up for ourselves, and that is exactly what had happened this past month. To top it off, the game on the forum has seemed to already slowed down quite a bit, which may be more on my fault than anything else. For now I will save that topic for later on, as there is news that I wish to discuss.

The first and foremost thing I would like to bring up is that as static as the site has been, Ghosts of Eternity has failed to lie down. Rather, this lull period has given me a chance to work on both the GoE novel and a few other side projects that I've been meaning to work on. Megan and I have discussed a zombie novel, which I have written four chapters for with a fifth on paper, as well as a possible series of short stories revolving around a witch, her familiar, and several lifetimes. Updates will come if both ideas blossom and prove to be fruitful, which I'm hoping they are.

Another update for this week is that starting tomorrow, I will be posting a new blog entitled "Screenshots on Paper"; a new biweekly blog where I will be reviewing movies and books. While I am still on staff for Fantasy Faction, it has been too long since I posted a review on that site, or even written one that I felt worth posting. This blog will serve as both an experiment and an exercise for my reviewing and consistent writing schedule, as I intend to post movie reviews every Saturday and book reviews on Sundays. While most of the books I review will be fantasy or science fiction, occasionally I will deviate into other fictions. As for movies, I intend to review the ones in my current collection, as well as whatever new releases I see. Tomorrow's review will be on the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games, with Sunday marking the first of a three-part review on the Hunger Games trilogy.

One final announcement before signing out is something that I have already discussed with a few members of the group, but I feel the need to say something here to make it more official. As much fun as the game has been and despite the initial feedback I was getting when the game started, I feel that the forum is not the proper place to be holding the beta.

Before anyone cries foul, I would like to state that I am not shutting down the site, nor will the game be stopped. Both the forum and Tidings of the Dark Shore are still open for current players and anyone who would like to play, but if there is one thing that the last two seasons have taught me, especially this one, is that running a roleplaying game on a forum is not a reliable beta for a game, especially one that is meant to be played at the table with friends in person. The function of the forum game was to serve as a more casual beta, where players can pop in and out as they please, post as much as they'd like, and provide feedback. Perhaps it was a bit silly of me, or perhaps it was lazy, to use the forum to provide an accurate representation for GoE. Do not get me wrong; I appreciate everyone who has joined and the contributions of our members, but I think the time has come for a more serious and accurate beta to be opened.

For my birthday this year, I had written and ran a GoE game with some of our illustrious members, and in truth I thought that was an excellent experience both for me and the members. I would like to continue this if possible, and so right now I am considering to hold more sessions, if my friends would be willing. These sessions would be held ideally every other week, or if that's not possible a monthly basis would be fine as well. The idea would be to continue where we had left off and with characters that everyone has used. Nothing is set in stone for right now and I do not know when I'll be able to hold this, but this is my intention.

Tidings of the Dark Shore will still be open for everyone on the forum, and as that story progresses I will continue to provide updates as I have in the past.

That's all for right now. Thank you to everyone who has stuck by me, and I hope to see you all tomorrow!
