After a prolonged hiatus brought on by recent insanity, it is my pleasure to announce the return of Forum Fridays - and by extension the return of the Ghosts of Eternity forum!
With the forums falling quiet over the last few months, I've been taking the time to work on both the core rulebook and tie-in novel for the tabletop game that was last unveiled and played during my birthday party. Most of the work has been done solo, which considering recent events has been a bit hectic and therefore both projects have suffered as a result in terms of commitment and capacity.
I've taken this last week to escape from the world and be with someone who means the world to me. Someone who has been my best friend, strongest rock, biggest fan and most ardent supporter. After a long and exciting brainstorming session with her, I came to a realization that most would have come to much sooner - this has been a solo project when it never needed to be. The week before my trip, I asked several friends who I trust and have been with me since the beginning to write short stories and blurbs for the core rulebook. After reading one of these submissions and long talks, I come here not just to update on the progress of the project, but also to ask for help.
Ghosts of Eternity is still alive and well, and I have every intention of breathing new life into the project. To that end, I am issuing a call to arms to anyone who is interested in helping me launch Ghosts of Eternity into the rulebook and novel I intend to write. What does this entail, you may ask? Well, for the moment this means that I need artists, writers, and proofreaders to help bring the rulebook to life. Artwork would entail character designs and racial models (preferably a male and female for each race and male and female models for the classes and professions so we can decide which would be utilized), weapons, armor, costumes, and architecture. I'll be working on a basic map that can be fixed up to make it more presentable.
One more thing that I would like in the art department is a logo for Ghosts of Eternity; something that would stick out and serve as our banner when the time comes to advertise and put the name on official papers and documents for submission or publication.
In the realm of writers, I'm looking for people to compose short stories (five to ten pages usually), chapter stories (introductions that usually run between one to two pages) and blurbs (short one-paragraph stories that may entail a single action or scene) to help enrich the world. As the rules are still a work in progress, writers may also be responsible for helping in the rule-writing department.
Proofreaders would be responsible for managing the flow and correcting errors in the writing department. In short, the writers craft what they feel like, and the proofreaders make those writings sing. Proofreaders will also be responsible for helping me with writing the novel and ensuring that it is as good as can be for an introduction to the world of Ghosts of Eternity.
As the project continues, I will be looking to expand this into other areas too, including a play-test group both online and offline (local or in your area) to help tighten the rules and see what works and what can be improved. If you're interested in setting up a GoE game, please let me know so I can help set you up. People who run test-games are expected to report with lists of players (number of players is mandatory, names are optional), along with their storyline, game events, and feedback from the end of play.
People who are interested in these positions are free to either PM me on the forum, post a comment here, or post in the Help Wanted section of the forum. If you have any questions, please let me know. As we are a small group, people who are interested can work in more than one department if they would like.
For the moment, these positions are all voluntary, but if you would like to partake, please note that I will be asking for submissions from whatever area you would like to work in. This work could either be related to Ghosts of Eternity, fantasy in general, or a personal spec project you would care to demonstrate your talent with. While I am usually lenient when it comes to deadlines, as the project progresses I will be asking for more regular submissions in order to help tighten the work. If you would like to work on submissions but timelines are a bit crazy for you, please let me know so I can take that into account.
Although these positions are voluntary for the moment, once the project reaches fruition I will be drafting contracts so that everyone involved can be compensated for their time and efforts in bringing Ghosts of Eternity to publication. Over the next few weeks I will be drafting a business model for Ghosts of Eternity.
That is all for now. If you're interested in serving as a staff member for Ghosts of Eternity, please let me know.
Thank you, everyone.
